I see the trees — they wave goodbye,
their branches fade against the sky.
The train moves on, the hours bend,
like love that burned, but couldn’t mend.

Your face dissolves in glass and rain,
a fleeting ghost that speaks my pain.
The fields blur out, the rivers gleam,
and time runs backward in a dream.

Each mile repeats what hearts once knew —
the warmth of me, the ache of you.
The sun retreats, the shadows swell,
the wheels hum low — a kind of knell.

I watch the past in silver streams,
the moving world, the dying dreams.
And though I know you’re gone for good,
I’d hold you still — if only I could.
