Lyrics

I held your faith like sacred fire,
A trembling light that rose, then tired.
We built a shrine on shifting sand,
And carved devotion hand to hand.

Your voice was incense in the rain,
It lit the dark, then left a stain.
Each kiss was steeped in ancient grace,
Yet sorrow bloomed in every place.

You knelt like one who meant to stay,
But love was smoke that slipped away.
The altar cracked beneath our names—
No gods, no prayers, no holy flames.

I gave you wounds you couldn’t see,
You gave me chains and called it free.
We danced through ash, we danced through lies,
While something holy slowly dies.

Now silence keeps the sacred dead,
In every word we should have said.
The rites are done, the candles bled,
The book is closed, the vows unread.

Yet still I hear your parting hymn,
It haunts the bones, it floods the limb.
Not hate, not rage, just quiet dread—
The love we had has long since fled.

Love is cast here in the language of failed liturgy. Faith held “like sacred fire,” a shrine on sand, incense in rain—then the altar cracks and “the book is closed, the vows unread.” The beloved is not simply lost; the whole religious apparatus of devotion collapses into ash while the speaker still hears a “parting hymn” in the bones.

Trance’s dark-uplifting double nature fits that wound with uncomfortable precision. The arrangement can still rise, still drive, even as the lyric insists on quiet dread rather than rage. What remains is not hatred but the colder knowledge that something holy died mid-ritual, and the body has not finished receiving the news.
