Lyrics
You said I’d understand someday
When the wounds had all healed
But time passed through me
And the ache never sealed
You said the world would soften
If I just learned to forgive
But I carried your silence
Like a weight I couldn’t lift
You were the fire
But you let me freeze
You were the cure
That brought no peace
You were the light
That left me blind
A broken path
You left behind
You said the pain was fleeting
But it settled in my bones
You said you’d never leave me
But I always walked alone
You smiled through my screaming
Said the storm would pass
But I stood in the wreckage
Of your shattered glass
You were the fire
But you let me freeze
You were the cure
That brought no peace
You were the light
That left me blind
A broken path
You left behind
Now I rise through all the gray
Rebuild myself from your decay
You taught me how to disappear
But I learned how to stay
You were the fire
Now I burn alone
You were the truth
But carved in stone
You were the voice
That taught me pain
But I won’t drown
In you again
The idea#
Someone keeps offering the soft future tense of comfort: wounds will seal, the world will yield if only forgiveness is learned. The body disagrees. Time passes through it, not over it, and the ache settles where bone keeps score. Silence arrives as freight—unshared, unliftable.
What was promised as fire freezes; the cure brings no peace; light blinds. Contradiction is the relationship’s true climate, and Futurepop’s cool, polished surface makes that climate feel precise rather than melodramatic. You can almost hear the spare drum machine ticking under wreckage that was never cleaned away.
Then a harder quiet: rising through gray, rebuilding from someone else’s decay, learning to stay after being taught disappearance. The last fire is solitary. Pain is not denied—it is simply refused as a place to drown.
