To see a World in a Grain of Sand,
And a Heaven in a Wild Flower,
Hold Infinity in the palm of your hand,
And Eternity in an hour.
But time dissolves like waves on stone,
Memories fade, and I’m alone.
Shadows whisper through the night,
Echoes lost in fading light.
Hold me close, though you’re not here,
In the silence, I still hear.
Every heartbeat, every tear,
Falls like stardust, disappears.
I reach for you in empty air,
A ghost of warmth that isn’t there.
Through the dark, your voice remains,
Soft as whispers lost in rain.
Hold me close, though you’re not here,
In the silence, I still hear.
Every heartbeat, every tear,
Falls like stardust, disappears.
Infinity slips through my hands,
Eternity just grains of sand.
Love and sorrow intertwined,
Lost in time, lost in time…
The idea#
Blakeโs microcosm opens the door: world in a grain, heaven in a flower, infinity small enough to hold. Then the lyric turns, almost cruelly, from vision to aftermath. Time โdissolves like waves on stone,โ and the mystic palm emptiesโinfinity slips, eternity becomes grit again.
What I hear is less a sermon on wonder than a nocturnal elegy for someone who can no longer be touched. โHold me close, though youโre not hereโ is the hinge: love surviving as echo, โsoft as whispers lost in rain,โ while every tear โfalls like stardustโ and vanishes. Vocal trance loves that contradictionโeuphoria stretched over absence, a lift that keeps returning to the same empty air.
Perhaps the grain of sand is both Blakeโs cosmos and the residue of what was lost. Love and sorrow braid until the only honest refrain left is lost in timeโnot as slogan, but as the condition of still hearing a voice the body cannot find.
